Centrifuge Updates - November 2016

The TNS CNO developers have been hard at work updating Centrifuge. Here's what's been improved, fixed, eliminated, updated and added in November, 2016.

  • Improved dynamic analysis engine by adding unicode symbol resolution, enhanced error handling, more system call support and nonstandard main locations.
  • Fixed memory leaks in the dynamic analysis (emulation) engine.
  • Eliminated need for analyzers to run within separate tty environments - improving stability and logging across the system.
  • Fixed an issue where encrypted firmware images generated an empty report rather than a helpful diagnostic page.
  • Fixed an issue where certain non-firmware-images (individual binaries or zip or tar archives) were not being processed properly.
  • Updated project release scripts.
  • Updated the UI for library and code analysis report pages.
  • Updated the vulnerability ranking algorithm to put more emphasis on emulated results.
  • Fixed an issue where vulnerable function calls were rendered improperly in certain cases.
  • Added support to analyze firmware with nested filesystems.
