Tactical Network Solutions Presents the “Cyber Breach: Preventing Bodily Injury and Property Damage” Webinar Hosted by Medmarc Insurance

The webinar addressed IoT in hospitals and healthcare settings, reviewed possible scenarios where cyber risks could cause bodily injury and detailed how medical device companies can protect themselves and their device users.

On Wednesday, April 19th, Terry Dunlap, founder and CEO of Tactical Network Solutions, presented the “Cyber Breach: Preventing Bodily Injury and Property Damage” webinar hosted by Medmarc Insurance. The presentation addressed IoT in hospitals and healthcare settings, reviewed possible scenarios where cyber risks could cause bodily injury and detailed several ways medical device companies could protect themselves and their device users.

The Medmarc webinar webpage noted “Although the medical device industry is becoming more attuned to cyber risks all the time, the potential damages are often thought of in terms of the release of personal information or other large-scale data breaches. What is lesser known, but no less treacherous, are the risks of property damage and bodily injury from cyber vulnerabilities and software defects in medical devices. In this webinar, Terry Dunlap - founder and CEO of Tactical Network Solutions, a company specializing in cyber risk mitigation of IoT and other connected devices - describes how medical devices can be conduits of products liability losses, and what designers and manufacturers of these devices can do to protect patients and property.”

Dunlap added, “Risk mitigation will always be a concern for healthcare providers and manufacturers in every aspect of their work. With the advent of connected medical devices and systems, they must further address protecting their patients and end users. To proactively secure their IoT device firmware before production, evaluations should be performed to discover vulnerabilities and security holes, which can be corrected before the images earn final approval.”
